Welcome to my GetResponse Review. “The Money’s in the List.” If you’ve been involved with Internet marketing for any length of time, I’m sure you’ve heard that saying more times than you care to remember. Well, you hear and read it a lot because it’s true. Having a nice, big email list is a great way to make money online. To build your list, though, you need a reliable email autoresponder service. GetResponse is an email autoresponder that has been getting a lot of attention lately, so I decided to put together this GetResponse review to help you learn more about this popular autoresponder.
GetResponse – Start for Free
To kick off this GetResponse Review, let’s talk about “free”. I love to see the word “FREE.” Don’t you? Well, GetResponse (owned by Implix USA Inc) actually offers a Free GetResponse Auto Responder subscription to their services to get you started. In fact, you may decide to use the free version of GetResponse and never even move on to the paid version at all. This service is available to anyone with a list of less than 100 subscribers, so it’s a great way to get started with email marketing and building your list.
GetResponse Review on Deliverability
The email has to get delivered, right? After all, none of us can afford to build a list, and then have our all important messages bombing out or ending up in a SPAM filter. GetResponse Email Marketing Service is excellent at delivering messages. They tout an impressive 99% delivery rate, so it’s apparent that they take your newsletters just as seriously as you do. I’ve read numerous reports that GetResponse can penetrate the inbox as effectively as Aweber. I can confirm these results. For the sake of this GetResponse review, My emails arrived quickly and on-time without any spam issues.
GetResponse Review on Social Sharing Features
We all know how important social marketing is these days, so it’s nice that GetResponse provides some nice integration tools to send your messages out to your friends and followers on the major social networking sites. Having the social sharing option helps you to kill two birds with one stone, as you can email you list and make your offer visible to your friends and followers at the same time.
Unlimited Custom Fields
This is one feature that tends to get ignored in a GetResponse review. GetResponse has the ability to store unlimited custom fields for contacts. What exactly is a custom field? A custom field allows you to capture extra information about your subscriber and store it in their contact record. Then, later on, you can segment your list and email them based on the response to custom field. Here are 2 examples of custom field usage.
- Example 1: You’re building a list of people and decide to ask them if they’re male or female during the signup process. One week later, while sending a broadcast, you decide to send a separate email to men and women. This allows you to target your message and tone in a manner that increases response. Alternatively, you can offer each demographic a completely separate product to improve sales.
- Example 2: On your signup form, you ask your subscribers their age. They can select either 18-25, 25-34, 35-45 or 45+. By knowing your subscribers age, you can send a targeted email that captures more interest. For example, the 18-25 crowd will be interested in impressing partners and enjoying their youth. The 35-45 crowd will respond better to family-oriented messages.
Custom fields should be a powerful factor in your autoresponder decision. It is for the sake of this GetResponse review.
Surveys To Segment Your Audience
This goes hand in hand with custom fields above. You can email your list a survey and all the responses are added to their contact records. This improves your ability to segment and learn more about your audience. It also saves you the monthly expense of purchasing a separate survey solution like PollDaddy or SurveyMonkey. This could play a major factor in your ability to target leads and improve response. Surveying your audience and collecting information about their habits is a major tactical advantage.
Split Testing Up to 5 Messages
Here is another impressive feature. GetResponse Auto Responder allows you to “split test” an email. GetResponse lets you create up to 5 messages, with different personalization techniques, subjects, and styles. GetResponse will test each version for you, then automatically select and send the best! You will know exactly which email subject, personalization technique, and style drove more clicks and converted leads into sales.
If you own an iPhone, you can get even more out of GetResponse. With the GetResponse iPhone App you can:
- Add new contacts to your campaigns wherever you are. This is perfect for anyone that meets potential leads or clients in person.
- Import contacts from your iPhone and add them to your GetResponse list. Again, perfect for traveling business people.
- Add or remove campaigns and change their positions anytime.
- Review your progress at a glance with instant access to performance stats.
GetResponse Review of Video Email
GetResponse allows that ability to create Video Emails. This feature allows you to record audio and video files directly from your account! No other software required.
Just grab your webcam, log in to your GetResponse account – and you’re ready to shoot! You can store up to 1GB of multimedia files in your account. Use the space to mix and match the best of current and new videos, animations, graphics and documents and include them in your promotions and newsletters or paste into your website and blogs. Most customers are using this feature for product demonstrations, client testimonials, training and event videos, branding presentations, holiday greetings and special announcements or sales pitches.
Email to Speech
Email-to-Speech automatically converts text into high-quality human voice so subscribers can listen to your emails “hands free” − no matter where they are or what they’re doing! This allows you to reach mobile, multi-tasking audiences while they drive, cook dinner, surf the Internet, or walk in the park! Be the brand that frees them from inbox clutter and unreadable cell phone screens!
GetResponse Review of Customer Support
The Achilles heel of this GetResponse Review has to be their support options. Some people have rated their customer support as top-notch, but a few haven’t. It does seem as though the GetResponse team is aware of their customer support issues, as all signs indicate that they are starting to improve their customer service focus. It’s also possible I found the “picky-people” during my travels. After all, Aweber and other autoresponders get their fair share of negative reviews as well. Update: Since I’ve written this GetResponse Review, customer service has improved dramatically.
Conclusion of GetResponse Review
GetResponse may not get the kind of buzz that other autoresponders get, but it can certainly hold its own. It’s easy to use, very affordable and is great at delivering messages to your list. What more could you ask for from an email autoresponder?
